Castle Ward – History, Scenery & Game of Thrones
Just a short walk from The Cuan, National Trust Castle Ward is a magnificent 18th-century estate overlooking beautiful Strangford Lough.  Famous for its striking blend of Gothic and classical architecture, the estate offers a wonderful combination of history, gardens, woodland trails and spectacular loughside scenery.  For Game of Thrones fans, the historic farmyard is particularly special, having featured as Winterfell in the series.  Whether you wish to explore the elegant mansion, enjoy a peaceful coastal walk minutes from our front door, Castle Ward makes a memorable addition to your stay at The Cuan in Strangford.  We recommend checking opening times before your visit, as access to the house varies seasonally.
For visitor information and opening times, visit the National Trust Castle Ward website.
