Down County Museum

Located in the restored buildings of the eighteenth century County Gaol of Down

Down County Museum started life in 1981, it is a place where the rich heritage of County Down is brought to life in fascinating exhibitions, lively events, hands-on activities and award winning education programmes.

Visitors can explore the history of the old Gaol, enjoy our permanent exhibition, Down Through Time, and see one of our special, temporary exhibitions displaying objects from our varied collections.

Opening Hours:

Monday to Friday – 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
Saturdays & Sundays – 1.00 pm – 5.00 pm
